Missouri BIO 2008 Pavilion to be Hub of Activity, Home Base For More Than 200 Missouri Attendees

Plan on joining MOBIO in San Diego, June 16-20th, 2008.

BIO 2008 San Diego - Missouri: Built for Biotechnology!

  • This June, Missouri's life sciences leaders will go toe-to-toe with other leaders throughout the biotechnology industry while conducting business in the midst of 23,000 attendees, 1,900 exhibitors, and more than 12,000 business to business interactions at the annual conference known as "The Olympics of Biotechnology". More than two hundred members of the Missouri Biotechnology Association will journey as a delegation to the San Diego Convention and Exhibition Center. Missouri stakeholders will include representatives from biotechnology companies, research institutions, the biotech support services industry, economic developers and members of higher education and innovation centers.
  • The Missouri Pavilion will be front and center in the San Diego Convention Center Exhibition Hall at BIO 2008 during June 17-20, 2008. Missouri's pavilion serves as the gathering place and "home base" for our attendees and interested partners. There are multiple opportunities to showcase your company to more that 23,000 international attendees, and our presence will provide an impressive display of the biotech strengths of the Midwest.

  • Committed State Leaders: Governor Matt Blunt will be attending BIO for the third year in a row. He will be joined by cabinet members Greg Steinhoff of the Department of Economic Development and Katie Smith of the Department of Agriculture.

  • The state's leaders in life sciences are stepping up and collaborating on the the BIO 2008 initiative to make sure our on-site activities stand out in this highly competitive international marketplace.  Many leaders have worked diligently to ensure a success for this effort, with a Return on Investment emphasis on events and efforts that deepen relationships and those that can facilitate future deals and collaborations. The united effort and investment to strengthen Missouri’s presence at BIO 2008 advances our statewide economic development objectives.
  • We are looking forward to seeing many of you in San Diego at BIO 2008, June 16-20. Contact MOBIO if you have an interest in helping to support the collective effort or one of our very special events or programs.
  • MOBIO will be organizing an effort to attract scholarship support to host at least 15 public officials at this year's BIO conference. State leaders should be fully aware of this highly competitive gathering, and Missouri's strong posture from which to grow. This year, BIO’s June dates afford even greater opportunities as we plan to shine a spotlight on Missouri’s role in the international biotechnology landscape for our Missouri legislators. Our BIO 2008 efforts will include invitations to Missouri legislators to join us in San Diego so they may witness the bioscience industry’s proven benefits and unbridled growth opportunities, returning home with a more enlightened understanding of our industry and the economic development opportunities it offers Missourians. In short, MOBIO is expanding our goals to effectively marry MOBIO’s core advocacy and public policy offerings with our statewide and international BIO marketing efforts.

  • The Second Annual Midwest Reception, in the Park adjacent to the Hilton Gaslamp Quarter - 401 K Street, directly across the street from the San Diego Convention Center. Wednesday, June 18, 2008 5:30 to 8:30 pm. This reception will be open to all conference attendees is brought to you through a partnership of Missouri and Illinois biotech stakeholders. More than 400 attendees used their BIO credentials to get them in the door at the Omni Parker House last year in Boston, this is a going to be a fun reception.
  • The Missouri Breakfast at BIO 2008 is scheduled for Wednesday morning, June 18th, at the University Club atop Symphony Towers. Once again, this venue allows us a fabulous vista of San Diego Bay and downtown. Governor Blunt has provided keynote remarks at the two previous gatherings for this annual event. Dr. Jerry Caulder will be our special 2008 keynote.
  • MOBIO will be hosting a very exclusive golf outing to kick off our visit to San Diego.   If golf is your passion, know that MOBIO will organize a golf outing to Del Mar Country Club,  Phil Mickelson’s home course, on Mon. June 16.
