February 23, 2010- MOBIO Life Sciences Day at the Capitol Jefferson City |

MOBIO invited members to Jefferson City for an opportunity to assist in advancing our legislative outreach efforts and ensure open dialogue and deepen relationships with key policy makers during the 3rd annual day at the Capitol. The afternoon was reserved for Capitol office visits and leadership briefings. MOBIO invited the biotech caucus and the BIOBenchmarking graduates to join us dinner as featured guests. MOBIO was honored to have Dr. Robert Duncan, Vice Chancellor for Research at the University of Missouri serve as the keynote speaker.

April 13-14, 2010- BIO Legislative Day Fly-In

MOBIO joined biotechnology leaders from across the country for legislative briefings and advocacy during BIO’s legislative fly-in event. Representatives from the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, Washington University and the Missouri Coalition for Lifesaving Cures also traveled to DC to engage with congressional members and senior staff on the most important legislative issues facing the biotech industry.

April 29, 2010- The BIO Dinner

The first annual BIO Dinner in St. Louis united biotech leaders, researchers, scientists, investors, state leaders and industry experts in celebration of our regional and statewide accomplishments. Jason Hall, executive director of MTC and Director David Kerr, DED served as the keynote speakers and David Fischoff, Vice President, Technology Strategy and Development, Monsanto Company was the evening’s special guest. This Dinner granted the St. Louis community unparalleled access to the Missouri Delegation leaders before they departed for the 2010 BIO International Convention.

May 3-6, 2010- BIO International Convention

The Missouri Pavilion, anchored on the “Discover Your Talent” workforce initiative mobile unit, stole the spotlight at the BIO International Convention and made it clear to the 15,322 industry leaders from 49 states and 65 countries that Missouri is dedicated to cultivating the skilled workforce of tomorrow. The Midwest Blues Reception was a huge success, allowing BIO attendees to network prior to the opening of the Convention and demonstrating the unity and strength of the Midwest. We were honored to have Governor Jay Nixon serve as the keynote speaker for the Missouri Governor’s Breakfast at BIO and also welcomed Dr. Jon Hagler, the Director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture.

June 14-16, 2010- ILSI Biomed Conference

MOBIO attended the ILSI Biomed Conference in Tel-Aviv, Israel for the third year and for the second year exhibited on behalf of the state of Missouri. At the conference, MOBIO worked to raise awareness of Missouri’s biotech assets, strengthen and develop relationships leverage unique Missouri-Israel biotech partnership and pursue future opportunities for new bioscience co-investments between Missouri and Israel. The Missouri Partnership joined MOBIO at this conference, to strengthen the marketing and business development efforts, and sell Missouri biotech beyond our borders.

September 29 - October1, 2010- BIO Japan World Business Forum

MOBIO partnered with DED and MTC to extend an invitation to Missouri biomedical and biopharma companies and built a delegation of life science research leaders, entrepreneurs, policy makers and industry investors for Missouri’s 2nd appearance at BioJapan. The 2010 Missouri Delegation included FairCom, River City Biologicals, Mobius Therapeutics, BRDG Park, Paul Mueller Company and the University of Missouri, in addition to MOBIO, MTC and DED.

November 4-5, 2010- MOBIO Life Sciences Summit and Annual Conference

The 2010 Summit welcomed United States Senator Kit Bond, Governor Jay Nixon, Director Jon Hagler, Representative Jerry Nolte, the Minority Floor Leader, Representative Mike Talboy and over a dozen legislators joined us for dinner. In anticipation of the 2011 Legislative Session, public policy discussions served as the centerpiece topics throughout this conference and energized our attendees.
